Our Team of Professionals Provide you With the Results that you and your Manhattan Home Deserve
A homeowner in Manhattan called SERVPRO, informing us that a significant part of her home was flooded with water, and she needed assistance. She had turned off the mains, so the intrusion had stopped, but it was not clear whether the loss originated from a faulty appliance or a supply pipe.
When dealing with such water damage cases in Manhattan, our SERVPRO crews take a proactive approach to ensure we establish all problems and make the right steps to fix them. Among the first issues to establish was whether there were access restrictions to the loss site. The loss had only affected the ground floor in the building, so issues like intrusions into wall cavities or ceiling spaces, which complicate access to the spilled water, were minimal. With fast extraction and drying, we could complete the restoration process.
Water loss incidents are notorious for sparking safety or security issues when they affect the property. For a loss discovered immediately, the primary concern is electrical faults if the water finds a way into sockets or power cables. With most of the water at the house being on the floor, we anticipated no such problems. However, our SERVPRO technicians still used circuit checkers for confirmation.
For severe water loss incidents, additional services such as pack-outs, specialized content cleaning, and drying may be necessary. Our SERVPRO team was ready to perform any of these services at the property. Although we did not need to perform a pack-out, we still had to move some contents from the wet ground floor area to upper rooms in the house, clearing space to extract water and perform drying procedures. Wet-vacuuming the rooms with a truck-mounted water extractor removed most of the water.
We also performed immediate stain removal in some parts of the carpet in the living room through spot cleaning before embarking on drying. We set up a couple of air movers and dehumidifiers, monitoring them every 24 hours, ensuring that the house regained its preloss state in just a few days.
Fast, targeted action helps save water-damaged property. Call SERVPRO of Upper West Side at (917) 498-1362 to help. We're Faster To Any Size Disaster.
